Twin Flames, Twin Souls, Soul Mates.... I Guess They're All The Same Right??? .... WRONG!!!
Many people have heard of soul mates but are unfamiliar with the correct meaning of the word. As a result of this, when introduced to the 'terms' twin soul or twin flame they assume that it must carry the same definition as soul mate. With this being said... then what's the difference???
Let's begin with soul mates.. Soul mates are our 'soul family' with whom we share many past lifetimes and experiences with. They can be male or female. We are close to them at a 'soul' level and they help us to grow, evolve, create and dispel karma. Generally, the love is deep and a shared spiritual bond sets them apart from the other superficial people in our lives. Soul mates can be previous family members, lovers, friends or even enemies. We sign contracts with these souls to return to earth together for greater learning and growth. The ancients believe that when the soul descends from the 'source' it is created in groups. These souls are our soul mates and they are very similar to us. However, upon descending to Earth, each of these souls then split into two... creating twins or twin souls. (Eg: Amun and Amunet).
Now, let's take a deeper look at twin souls or twin flames.. This is a spiritual union. Twin souls are the other half of our souls 'LITERALLY'. Each person only has one twin soul and this twin is usually of the opposite gender. When the split occurred, both souls went their separate ways... re-incarnating time and time again to gather human experience before coming back together. Chances are, you haven't shared many lifetimes with your twin and this is why each twin longs to find their other half. This is the only union that can provide full satisfaction on every level, a true sense of wholeness and the feeling of being entirely complete.
Twin unions are rare but when they do occur, both twins experience an acceleration of their spiritual growth and awakening. They get on the fast track of learning about esoteric wisdom and experience other states of consciousness. The purpose of this union is spiritual and when the twins unite, they tend to do spiritual work or aid the planet and humanity in making a big shift forward towards consciousness. The psychic and spiritual connection between the twin souls is intense and profound. They have the ability to communicate telepathically and while apart, they can 'literally' feel one another or sense each others emotions. Moreover, they can contact one another through meditation and have the same experience together! This is a divine connection, one soul... yet two separate vessels. It is also said that the number's 11 11 may appear in many aspect of their lives, such as the day they met, birthdays etc. {Eg: 01/10/2009 >> 1+10= 11, 2+9=11// 11 is believed to be a number relating to divine messages.}
The chance of meeting or staying with a twin depends on how evolved one's soul is. Before one can physically unite with their twin, they must do the conscious work of healing and becoming whole within themselves. This union is one of the most intense that any person will ever experience. As a result, many re-unions are unsuccessful because the individual people are not ready to handle the intensity of being united or it simply wasn't the right time.
Unfortunately, not all twin flames reside on the Earth plane at the same time. If this is the case, then they will offer guidance and comfort from beyond as a "guardian angel"... I find this information fascinating and when experienced, the inner you becomes enlightened. I hope that someday everyone will receive the opportunity to be reunited with a soul mate or their twin soul.
Personally, I've had the opportunity to meet a few of my soul mates... both male and female; but nothing can be compared to the feeling of ecstatic joy- when you look into the eyes of your twin soul, and see yourself... staring back at you. :)
*UPDATE: Twin souls can manifest within the same gender because one soul carries a male energy and the other carries that of a female. The soul determines the physical body and journey that it wants to experience.
